This Mathematics major is well-suited for students who will seek further education in mathematics beyond the undergraduate level and/or pursue careers in areas that rely heavily on mathematical skills and thought, like physics or finance. This Mathematics majorallows students to receive one-on-one guidance from esteemed faculty advisors and talented graduate students in mathematics through our mentorship program. After taking preliminary course requirements for your mathematics major, take required upper-division courses in real analysis, linear algebra, abstract algebra and probability and statistics. The final upper-division course will be your choice; you will select between ordinary differential equations and geometry. Additional courses will be required for graduation, but you will select those courses based on your interests and with the guidance of a faculty advisor.

The International Year One is the perfect pathway if you want a undergraduate degree from a UK, EU or US University but do not meet the requirements for direct entry.

The IY1 course provides an intensive combination of first year University subject modules with English language skills.

Following successful completion of the IY1 you will continue onto your second year degree study directly with the University of your choice.

Scholarships

Progressing students into Syracuse University receive the following merit awards for each
subsequent year of enrollment based on the cumulative GPA earned upon the completion of the 30 credit hours:
• A GPA between 3.25 and 3.49 is $10,000 per year
• A GPA between 3.5 and 3.74 is $15,000 per year
• A GPA greater than 3.75 is $20,000 per year
