Degree Overview

Music education majors get a strong foundation in music theory and performance, as well as teaching methods specific to music and the arts. Music education students choose a music emphasis for both performance and conducting/teaching methods courses: brass, choral/general (voice), woodwind, percussion or strings. You can expand your performance skills and experience even more with the performance honors program.

The International Year One is the perfect pathway if you want a undergraduate degree from a UK, EU or US University but do not meet the requirements for direct entry.

The IY1 course provides an intensive combination of first year University subject modules with English language skills.

Following successful completion of the IY1 you will continue onto your second year degree study directly with the University of your choice.

Scholarships

Progressing students into Syracuse University receive the following merit awards for each
subsequent year of enrollment based on the cumulative GPA earned upon the completion of the 30 credit hours:
• A GPA between 3.25 and 3.49 is $10,000 per year
• A GPA between 3.5 and 3.74 is $15,000 per year
• A GPA greater than 3.75 is $20,000 per year
