The course was previously titled: 'Computing BSc (Hons)' This course has been carefully designed to provide a fully integrated program of study. The Applied Computing Studies BSc (Hons) degree program is a practical, vocationally oriented course providing students with knowledge and skills for the modern, computer-driven workplace. Modules include a contemporary mix of traditional computing subjects with professional and work-related skills. The program focuses on core modules such as Introduction to Computing, Computer Ethics, Data Analytics, Information and Database Design, Programming in Python, Project Management, Human Computer Interaction, Programming with APIs and Frameworks, Mobile Application Design and Development and Artificial Intelligence. There are also a number of optional modules for students to choose from including Information and Communication Technologies for Development, Information Security Management and Governance, Internet of Things and Advanced Database Management and Programming, so you can tailor your learning to your areas of interest. In the final year, you will have the chance to select from a range of specialist options and also complete a computing project.

Your Pathways

The International Foundation Certificate (IFC) is the first year of the four year undergraduate course. IFC is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.

Following successful completion of the IFC,  you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.

The International Year One is the perfect pathway if you want a undergraduate degree from a UK, EU or US University but do not meet the requirements for direct entry.

The IY1 course provides an intensive combination of first year University subject modules with English language skills.

Following successful completion of the IY1 you will continue onto your second year degree study directly with the University of your choice.
