Degree Overview

With the continuing increasing pace of technological development, and the need for increased computing performance in applications such as high-performance computing, mobile computing and embedded systems, develop the skills and expertise needed to become a specialist in computer system design. In the final year, students can specialise in subjects such as IoT, Machine Learning and Signal Processing so you’re never tied to a single career path! 

These courses sit at the cutting edge boundary between computers and electronics. Many alumni from these courses go on to very highly paid and rewarding employment designing and building the next generation of smart appliances, Internet of Things devices and embedded systems. The Beng degree is 3 years whereas the MEng involves a study for an extra year and provides a more in-depth study of the subject.

  • This course is available with a Placement Year option where students will study for 1 additional year. The Placement Year is undertaken at the end of the second year and students are away for the whole of the academic year.

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology – students will gain exemption from the admission examinations enabling you to apply for membership and, in due course, become a Chartered Engineer.

Your Pathways

The International Year Zero is the first year of the four year undergraduate course. IYZ is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.

Following successful completion of the IYZ, you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.
