International Foundation Year

The International Foundation Year (IFY) is a level 3 programme equivalent to A levels. During your study of the IFY you will develop subject-specific knowledge and improve your academic English language skills in preparation for studying at university.

Why study the International Foundation Year?

The IFY will prepare you for the first year of your undergraduate degree. It’s made up of several core and subject-specific modules that will give you a greater understanding of your chosen subject area. The skills you develop through this programme will help you in your chosen degree, in your future career, and in all aspects of life.

Why study this course

You can choose to join the IFY programme either in January or September.

If you don’t currently meet the English language level and academic skills for direct entry onto a undergraduate degree, then you may need to study the IFY programme. Once you successfully complete the programme, you can progress to your chosen degree at the university.

Throughout your study of the IFY, you will benefit from small class sizes and support from qualified and experienced teachers.

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) at University of Kent International College (UK IC) is a level 3 foundation year that is an equivalent qualification to A levels.

You can pick from a range of subject specific pathways that you will study for one year. After successful completion, you will receive a level 3 award and can then progress to year one of your chosen university degree course.
